I love this quote from Lauren Hutton. At the beginning of each season, we are faced with a variety of trends — some we despise immediately, others we are hesitant to take part in, and some we love.
Sticking with Hutton’s mantra, I have set some personal shopping rules for myself this season: set a seasonal budget, write everything in my purchase journal, consider upcoming events, and wait till after fall fashion week shows to see what trends will carry over to the next season. This fall, it looks like fur, chunky sweaters, cropped skinny pants, wide-leg pants, the ’70s look, and winter white will be major players.
Out of all the trends emerging for the spring/summer season, here are some items on my wish list.
Tibi shorts
Coral was the color of last summer, and it looks like the color is back again this year. Coral is a great in-between color for people (like me) who are hesitant to wear all pink or all red at once. It’s about time I purchase more than just coral lipstick and nail polish. Whether it’s a great coral dress that can be dressed up or down, or a pair of coral shorts, like these from Tibi, I plan on getting some coral in my closet.
Citizens of Humanity at Shopbop
Don’t get me wrong, I love my skinny jeans. But the wide-leg pants and the ‘70s look is really starting to grow on me. I can’t wait to score a deal on some flared jeans this season and pair them with some brown/tan wedges and a breezy floral top.

All white and neutrals. This is where “consider upcoming events” comes into play. This summer, Todd and I are attending a friend’s wedding in Turks & Caicos, and their rehearsal dinner is a “white party.” Great reason for me to pick up a cute white dress to wear all summer and possibly transition into “winter white.”

As for accessories, I want to look for some long necklaces and a canvas or neutral satchel.

I need a pair of nude heels, high-waisted jeans, a boyfriend blouse (like MKA Olsen), a pair of leather pants (though it’s not a spring/summer item) and a pair of studded shorts!
